 Craftsmanship
Every chest is constructed of black walnut, chosen for its strength, durable beauty and resilience to compression along the grain. This is the very same wood that leading rifle and shotgun makers use for gunstocks.
All of the joinery is dovetailed by hand. To make the fine inlays in the front, our craftsmen hand inlaid burled walnut, with ¼ sawn mahogany bands, creating a timeless elegance.
The handles are cast, and the chest corners are fashioned of hammered steel for additional strength and beauty. (Upon request, the corners and handles may be hand engraved.)
The mahogany drawers are constructed using dovetail joinery and felt lined in your choice of (five) colors. All drawers can be secured with lock and key. The drawers are suspended on mounted soft-close slides that provide a snug fit. Dust panels between the drawers help protect your equipment—and preserve your investment.
Each chest is finished with hand-rubbed oil, and then hand waxed to further protect the integrity and aesthetics of the chest.
Finally, each field chest is numbered, dated and signed by the craftsman who built it. This identifies it as an authentic Field Chest to future generations.
